New Jersey’s Hilldale Elementary School principal Marianne Dispenziere retired at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, but her legacy at the school will continue on with the Hilldale Elementary Media Center.
This honor is actually attributed to Mrs. Tammy Minsky’s third grade class. The kids wrote 30 persuasive essays to the Montville Board of Education asking them to name the school after Dispenziere, but since the board wasn’t prepared to do that they decided to meet them halfway. Board member Charles Grau came up with the idea to dedicate the media center to her instead. They discussed the plan with the administration and the groundwork was put into place. The children were sent letters acknowledging their efforts.
Named after “the former principal at Hilldale Elementery School and employee in our district for 45 years, she did a wonderful job for our children and our staff members throughout her tenure in the district,” said [Superintendent Paul] Fried. “I know the board is interested in doing something very special for her.”
It appears that the children really appreciated Dispenziere and she returns the favor, very grateful and excited to receive the honor.
The board meeting and official dedication for the Marianne M. Dispenziere Media Center will take place tonight, September 24.
